Deputy Sheriff, Morgan Case
Morgan is a fourteen year veteran of law enforcement with his advanced certification from the Idaho POST . Morgan is currently working a dual purpose dog for the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho. With more than 10 years of SWAT experience and nearly the same in K-9, Morgan brings with him to the Canine Development Group’s list of Trainers, the innovative new ideas and concepts of incorporating SWAT tactics into our daily K-9 deployments. Morgan’s abilities in K-9 Training has earned him some of the highest recognitions from the IPCA’s annual training and certification events.
Deputy Sheriff Kurt Dumond
Kurt Dumond has been working and training police dogs for more than twenty years in central Florida, where he works as a Deputy Sheriff in Lake County. Kurt is the Trainer and coordinator for his department’s twelve dog unit. Kurt also has an extensive SWAT background that spans well over ten years. His expertise in both K-9 and SWAT has helped him successfully integrate the two specialties and has given him valuable insight into the proper deployment techniques and training which he brings to Canine Development Group’s training courses.
Corporal Brad Smith
Corporal Smith has been a police officer for the West Covina Police Department in Southern California since 1981. Corporal Smith was a K-9 handler for 20 years and a SWAT dog handler for 18 years. Corporal Smith is the current National Canine Chairperson for N.T.O.A. and Subject Matter Expert for the California Association of Tactical Officers, C.A.T.O.
Corporal Smith specializes in field tactics and officer safety. Corporal Smith is a K-9 SWAT instructor for N.P.C.A., California P.O.S.T., Utah P.O.S.T., International Training Recourses and United States Police Instructor Team (U.S.P.I.T). Over the years Corporal Smith has instructed thousands of canine handlers and SWAT team members during the numerous courses he has given on K-9 Swat Deployment throughout the United States, Canada and Brazil.
Corporal Smith is a graduate of the P.O.S.T. Master Instructor Development Program. For his Master Instructor Project, Corporal Smith designed and implemented the first and only P.O.S.T certified K-9 SWAT School in many different states. The school is called S.K.I.D.D.S., which stands for SWAT & K-9’s Interacting During Deployment School. Corporal Smith also runs a CAnine Tactical School he class CATS, which is for canine only.
He has published over 50 articles for a wide variety of publications on K-9 Swat Deployment and training. Some of these publications are N.T.O.A.’s Tactical Edge, C.A.T.O., Police K-9 Magazine, Law & Order and Police Magazine.

The Canine Development Group offers hands on training seminars for patrol and detector dog operations.
Our hands on courses range from two to four days in length. Our classes can also be tailored to your specific training needs. When we design a class for you, we will address the specific training problems that you and members of your group have encountered and would like to find solutions for. Our expert training staff will give you the personal one on one attention that will advance your handling skills and street performance.
